Sadly, Gary lost his life to Lung Cancer in June 2014. He was only 58 years old, a non-smoker and had so much life left to live and enjoy. Gary was diagnosed in June 2013 and given a terminal prognosis. Despite enduring many tests, treatments, side effects and symptoms Gary lived his life to the full with courage and positivity and was an inspiration to us all. Myself, our 3 children, family and friends are heartbroken at losing him. We know we will never fill the void he has left in our lives but know he is with us in our hearts and minds everyday. Gary was low risk for developing lung cancer and we find it difficult to accept the disease was so advanced, showing no symptoms until it was too late for effective treatment. We believe if there had been screening for early detection or more effective treatments Gary would still be with us today. Raising funds for research will not bring him back of course but we hope will help other amazing people like him beat this disease in the future.
